Overview

If you are interested an upright exercise bike to enhance your high-intensity training, this piece of equipment – unlike many in this price range - is suitable for that purpose.

Basically, it is designed for low-impact exercise for the entry-level market but will continue to work into the more advanced stages.

The magnetic resistance tension feature keeps the bike operating quietly. However, you should know that the 40-lb fly wheel [which is extremely heavy for a stationary bike of this style] does not operate in complete silence.

The Sunny Health & Fitness Pro Indoor Cycling Bike does weigh more than the average home bike, coming in at between 98 and 106 pounds once it is fully assembled. In part this is due to the weight of the flywheel but it is also related to the overall footprint and size of this model.

The specifications do not mention that it is designed for people at least 5’5” in height but customers who purchased this unit and were shorter than 5’5” were very disappointed that they could not use it.

Most of it could be attributed to the fact that minimum seat height was too high for shorter people to reach the pedals when they reached the bottom of the round. It is, however, one of the few bikes that is usable for those over 6’2”.

Most exercise bikes made for home use are unisex and this unit is no exception. However, it is more suitable for women that have at least some experience in biking since it is made more for men. In spite of the fact that this bike is described as equipment for home use, it is suitable for gym-- for areas set aside for entry-level users.

Pros of Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901 Pro Indoor Cycling Bike

Practicality

The Sunny Health & Fitness Pro Indoor Cycling Bike does arrive partially assembled – the central structure and the flywheel are already in place. Considering the weight of the flywheel, this is a major benefit. Buyers pointed out that it took an average of 25-30 minutes to complete the assembly; the tools that are included are sufficiently well-made for the purpose.

There are padded brakes on each side of the flywheel secured by a nut-and-bolt unit make the stopping action both smooth and quiet. The push stop button is located on the frame at knee height, making it very easy to reach without having to twist your body.

All reports from actual users indicate that these operate as intended and are made with quality materials.

The handlebars are well padded and the height is adjustable, making this very practical for the taller user without causing torqueing of the spine.

The Pro Indoor Cycling Bike is shown with two different styles of seats-- depending on the retailer, apparently. The more colorful and narrower seat is adjustable forward and backward as well as up and down.

The solid black seat adjusts in height and tilt-adjusts forward or back but does not move closer to the font frame. Be sure to know which model you are getting since that will have a lot to do with how well you will be able to use it.

User-Friendliness

This is a no-nonsense bike lacking any frills that the virtual generation or office worker may seek in a piece of home exercise equipment. It is also a unit that was manufactured, considering the needs of the taller person.

With no magnetic resistance included, there are fewer parts to worry about wearing out. It, however, does not come with a digital monitor and has no place to attach one – so get one that goes on your arm or wrist.

Durability

In terms of durability, this bike is one of the most durable on the market. It is suitable for those who want to be able to stand on the pedals as well as sit when spinning.

The pedals accommodate both a man or women’s foot, and the strap is well designed to go over the tip of the shoe without the foot sliding forward.

Cons of Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901 Pro Indoor Cycling Bike

On the less practical side, the overall weight of 106-lbs and the bulkiness of the product, owing to its larger size in all directions, may mean that you will need a second pair of hands to get everything set up.

Even though it does include 2-front wheels intended to make transporting this bike from one place to another easier, women and older people may find it a struggle anyway.

This bike does not fold up for storage--- and if you live in an apartment or have limited space to have this item stay up at all times, you may find that it is not a good buy--- in spite of its many assets.

If you are less than 5’5” tall or you are someone with back or knee issues, you may not be able to use this particular product.

Highly Recommended for Entry-Level to Advanced Exercise Use

With nearly 1200 actual customer reviews considered, 80% of them were rated with 4.0 or more stars. Nearly all the negative responses – 59 in total – mentioned the issue of the seat height.

Most of those who purchased this bike were men and many of those were already involved in some kind of exercise routine. Their purpose of purchasing this product was to supplement their other training on those rainy, snowy or sick days.

The major drawback of this unit for some was that where ever you placed it was going to become its semi-permanent home--- and if you are not one who is likely to use it daily, this could eventually become an expensive coat rack. None-the-less, we do recommend this as a quality purchase that will not need replacement in a year or two.
