The Prostate Cancer Charity launches The Real Man Cycling Challenge 2008

London’s first ever corporate cycling challenge - the Real Man Cycling Challenge - will be launched with a photo call on Wednesday 7th May in Canada Square, Canary Wharf, by The Prostate Cancer Charity.

The Real Man Cycling Challenge aims to raise over one million pounds to help The Prostate Cancer Charity fight the disease on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning. Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK - every hour at least one man dies from this disease.

Celebrities including Neil Fox, Adrian Chiles, Graeme Le Saux and Phil Liggett, will be lending their support. There will also be 50 Real Man cyclists hitting the streets of London on the day to help promote the event.

The Prostate Cancer Charity Ambassador and Magic FM’s Breakfast Show host, Neil Fox, who will be speaking at the launch, said: “My father died of prostate cancer when he was 76, but if he had known more about the disease, he might be alive today. So, I know from personal experience the devastating effect that prostate cancer can have on the lives of men and their families.”

“It’s vital to raise awareness about prostate cancer - all men need to know about this disease. This is why I’m getting on my bike and am delighted to support this incredible event. I want as many people as possible to saddle up and join us. Together we can have fun, raise vital funds for the Charity and above all make a difference.”

John Neate, Chief Executive of The Prostate Cancer Charity, comments “This is a landmark event for The Prostate Cancer Charity. With the help of thousands of Real Men cyclists, we will push prostate cancer to the forefront. Our vision is to build an annual flagship event for men which will help promote a cause which for too long was massively neglected.”

Registration will open on the 7th May; places for this event are strictly limited to 2,000 places, 500 teams of 4, and are offered on a first come first served basis.

Places will be available from www.realmancyclingchallenge.com from the 7th May
